Eventful Dubai Trip
Yesterday’s trip to Dubai was an eventful trip to us. With anticipation of going to Dubai for shopping and fun. Ended up being mind stressing and tiring day.
So the story goes like this:
Woke up kinda early (7.50am), prepare and got on the bus to Dubai. Heart filled with high expectation that we will be having great time today. Reached and got off at Dubai World Trade Center, we head over to the Dubai Metro Station (Al Jafiliya!!!!) just 500m away. So exited, first time riding the Dubai Metro since it was launched on 09-09-09. Once we reached the station… the automatic door wont open. Wondering if there is some fault with the door we look around and some passer by told us that THE METRO WILL BE CLOSED TILL 2PM ON FRIDAY!!! WTF…… I don’t know if it is closed for maintenance or for Friday prayers… but if it is for Friday prayers, then it is -.-”"”"”" (sorry Muslim friends, no offense meant).
So, disappointed, we halt a taxi at the metro station and make our way to Mall of Emirates (MOE). This where the real nightmare starts! One thing you should bare in mind is that in Dubai, the taxi fare is damn expensive (comparing to fares in Abu Dhabi and Malaysia where i spend most of my time in), I’m prepared for that. Almost reaching MOE, the meter shows 40 dirhams, I dug out my wallet and took out a 100 dirham note. (hmm, did I forget something?) Well, thinking that Furby will have a smaller note, I asked her if she have them. And she had! Great! I kept back my 100 note. On stopping, the meter is 43 dirhams. (Again did I forget something?) I paid the driver and got off. Exited, me and Furby head towards the mall entrance for our shopping spree. Just 5 minutes in the mall, I felt something not right. Where is my !@#!$!#%!# wallet!!!!! Damn it! Searching everywhere and concludes that I left it in the taxi…… perfect.
Quickly ran around like a mad man looking for the taxi that I took… failed. Called over to the taxi companies (forgot what company I took also) and Road Transport Authority (RTA) to make reports of my lost. Most of the calls are fruitful. But still managed to make some proper reports like what is the wallet colour and its contain (what else… cash, my bank & credit cards and most importantly the labour card!!!). Me and Furby both could not remember the name of the metro station that we took the taxi. We ended up giving funny names for the station. -.- Also called all my banks to block my cards and my boss to report the loss of my labour card (damn it…). Police report is necessary for the replacing the labour card and I’m leaving this country next Wednesday. Wonder if I still can leave… T_T
Furby is so worried and sad during this. All her shopping excitement is gone to dust. Two of us walked soullessly to the food court to take a munch. So sad… T_T While Furby was ordering her food, I got a call! It’s from one of the taxi company that I made the report and he said the taxi driver had bring in my wallet and will bring it over to MOE to return to me!!! (Thank God!)
Driver ask me to wait at the previous taxi drop off point, I hurried there. About 20 mins, the driver turn up and return the wallet to me. ^^ All the cards are still there INCLUDING THE CASH! (1.3k) So, there still is honest and kind hearted people in this world. As a gratitude, I awarded the honest driver 100 dirhams (I should give more, but my mind is not working too well that time).
Rest of the day is nothing special but our mood really is as good as it is before. Furby managed to buy some clothes and stuff. Me… nothing. Reached home around 11pm, took a bath and dozed off instantly.
